School has started and so has the HECTIC calendar!

I know that I am a week late on this post but I have been busy working at the school as a Teacher Assistant in the Self Contained Classroom.  I love it!  I want to go to school to be a Special Education Teacher.  So, here are the pictures from the first day of school and information on each Travis Kid.

Rianne 10 Year's Old

She loves middle school.  She attends Busbee Creative Arts Academy.  She had a problem with one student bullying her in the first few days, but all of that has been taken care of.  She loves her teachers.  The only thing she HATES is the homework.  She works on it every night until about 5ish.  But, she will get the hang of it.  She is in all Advanced classes.  She is in Cadette's in Girl Scouts this year.  She has decided to continue Jazz and no longer play soccer this year.  She is "working" on Monday and Wednesday in a program called About Face.  It is a program that helps middle school children learn how to balance a checking account, deposit money, computer skills and homework.  She gets paid $15 every session she is attends.  She is happy to earn her own money.

Michael 8 Years Old

He has Ms. Mann and Mrs. Coker.  He likes them both and has had a great start to the new year as a 3rd grader.  He is a Bear in Cub Scouts this year.  Soccer is starting in a few weeks and he cannot wait.  He is moving to U10 this year, so that means a bigger field.  He really enjoys playing all positions but I think goalie is his favorite; and he plays it very well.  He also wants to Mixed Martial Arts.  Trying to find a program that would fit into our schedules for him to participate in.  Uncle Billy thanks again for his book bag, he LOVES it!  He proudly tells everyone that his Godfather got it for him.

Robert 7 Years Old

He has Mrs. Skinner, Rianne's teacher from last year.  He really seems to enjoy her, but has had a rocky start.  It has started settling down, but I think the early schedule has really been difficult for him to adjust too.  He is a Wolf in Cub Scouts.  He is also playing soccer this year.  Last year, he decided he want to take a year off from all sports.  Mike and I told him that he could take one year off but he would have to play one sport starting in the fall and he chose soccer.  I think he will do well.  He lost his top front tooth yesterday.  It has been loose for quite a while.  I think for his fall pictures he will not have either top front teeth.  The other tooth is ready also.

So excited to go, they really didn't want to take another picture.

I hope that everyone has enjoyed there Back to School Days.

Rianne and LOCK of LOVE

Rianne Before

Okay, so the time has come yet again for Rianne to donate her hair.  She does this every 2-3 years.  She will not cut it until it is at least 10 inches.  She did this on Sunday (8-15-10) and her first comments was "Man, it feels so much better".  Her hair dresser said she had really thick hair and would make her VERY HOT, so with SC heat, I am SO glad she got it cut.  She wanted to get it cut before Girl's Inc. end of year dinner, but HAD to get it cut before she got her middle school ID.  She said she couldn't look completely different in her picture.  That would just be so wrong, LOL!

10 inches later....

Lions, Gorillas and Penguins, OH MY!!

This was too cute..she was doing this before I got the video camera out.
She the did it again for the camera.  Love it!!!

We went to the zoo on Tuesday with the Welborns.  Traci had not been in over 12 years and had a BLAST.  She was so excited when we got there.  She loved all the animals.  At the reptile center, she kept saying Michael would like this...of course she was talking about the snakes.  Even took a picture in front of one for him.  She was so cute.  Enjoy the pictures =)

We went on an EDventure today...

We went to Edventure today and it was my the kids first time.  It was even Traci's first time.  They had a blast.  We met up with the Welborn's.  The kids played dress up firemen, drove the firetruck and "bug", went through ED, looked inside your body at the bones, played pretend grocery shopping and so much more.  Laura and I were VERY stressed trying to keep up with 6 kids plus Traci, but the kids had fun.  ENJOY the pictures!!!

The Great Day at Granddaddy's

We had a blast today at my granddaddy's.  The boys and Traci rode the 4 wheeler.  Rianne did not want to ride it.  The boys rode with both Mike and granddaddy.  Mike took them on the country roads and Granddaddy took them through the woods and showed them different things.  I heard they seen peacocks, roosters, and even puppies that were only 2 weeks old.

I heard about granddaddy's days in the Air Force and about his family when he was growing up.  I even heard storys about when my dad and his brothers were growing up, from his point of view.  I heard them from my grandmother and it is cool to hear it from his side.

We then went to Shoney's for dinner.  It was really good and the kids liked going.  Granddaddy told me while I was there that it was a great day and a blessing for us to come and see him.  He told me he didn't see me much when I was growing up, but he ALWAYS loved me.  I was almost in tears.  I do remember going up and visiting him as a kid and riding Dusty, our horse.  We even reminisced when I slapped a fly on Dusty and she reared back and started to run.  I didn't know you couldn't slap a horse, I was trying to help her, LOL.  I have not been on one since that day =)

ENJOY THE PICTURES!!!

Robert built a "city" with Lincoln Logs

I am SO glad that my children and I got to visit him.  Michael Jr. was in TEARS not wanting to leave with us.  He wanted to stay a few days with Granddaddy and Margie.  We are going to let him stay a few days in September before soccer games start.  He was OKAY with that option but still sad to leave.

I think this will be a monthly event for the family to go up for the day and enjoy the country life!

Getting Class Schedule...

Okay, so today was a VERY hard day for me, but VERY exciting for Rianne.  Rianne has her schedule for Busbee Middle School & in all advance classes.  She has one class with a friend and it is PE.  We also figured out a way for her to participate in Jazz through the district again, so she is happy about that.  With me working with BFL again this year & Jazz being on Tuesday, I couldn't get her there.  I still need to go register & pay for that hopefully next week sometime.  She is PROUD to be a Bulldog!!!
